What's Next? Mobile Apps for College Prep and Getting a Job

What's Next" and "Words4U" Apps Available for Free

The Outreach and Technical Assistance Network (OTAN), a state leadership project at the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) that supports adult educators throughout California, has developed a series of free apps. The software helps users prepare for college, enter the workforce, and improve English language skills.

College and workforce preparation apps include:
  • What's Next? Success in School—how to prepare for college, including tips about study skills and goal setting. [iPhone | iPad | Web/Flash]
  • What's Next? Getting a Job—an informative and entertaining way to learn what it takes to make a good impression in a job interview. [iPhone | iPad | Web/Flash]
For English learners, two additional OTAN apps help students increase their vocabulary:
  • Words4U—provides practice with words associated with getting ready to go to college or preparing for the world of work. [iPhone]
  • Words4U2—features vocabulary building exercises focused on technology, government, law, health, and the human body. [iPhone | iPad | Android]
